Barbara Adler,ABCDT,CTDH is the founder and pack leader of Raising K9. Barbara has been raising and training dogs her whole life. She has bred dogs and competed in various dog related events. Working her way through college, Barbara trained dogs for law enforcement in the areas of obedience and substance detection. With majors in education and communication arts, Barbara began a career in advertising. Obtaining certifications from ACE, AFAA & ACSM, Barbara also taught fitness and aerobics. She stayed heavily involved with dog training on a part time basis and also became a Certified Therapy Dog Handler. Her work teaching, training and rehabilitating dogs was so rewarding she decided to leave the advertising business and focus on her love and passion for animals full time. She returned to college and earned her certifications as an animal behaviorist and dog trainer.
THUS, THE FOUNDING OF RAISING K9. A company devoted to the ongoing study, education and research of canine behavioral science. We research all training methods; what works, what doesn't, when to teach what and why. We study canine thinking, nutrition, breeding, breed groups, what causes behaviors, why behaviors are caused and how to correct the ones we want corrected - in a positive manner. We research what colors dogs see! Our ongoing study, research and years of practical experience COMBINED WITH FORMAL TRAINING & EDUCATION gives us an unprecedented edge into the dog's mind.Therefore, we are better equipped to be the best at what we do; WORK WITH DOGS!
Barbara Adler, ABCDT, CTDH is a graduate of and Certified by Animal Behavior College, Paws 4 Healing, Pet Partners and The Delta Society. Formally educated in all forms of training methods, including SCHUTZHUND, BARBARA IS PASSIONATE ABOUT USING POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training methods. She is committed to improving the lifelong relationship between dogs and their families. The results are happy pet parents and successful, healthy, happy, well-adjusted, well-behaved pets.
Her dog, Trooper was a certified Therapy Dog, passing his evaluations with a perfect score, obtaining the title of "Complex," the highest title a dog can receive. They were honored to be invited to and attend The Special Olympics. Aside from the various services Barbara offers, she also evaluates and trains dogs for Therapy Dog work.
Barbara has also been training her one and a half year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Tess, in the agility sport of Dock Diving. They entered their first professional Dock Dogs events in March 2009 and Splash Dogs events in April 2009. Tess holds a medal as a Dock Dogs National Title Qualifier.
Barbara is committed to helping the causes of animal rescue and adoption. She is passionate about the elimination of puppy mills and prosecution of animal abuse. She holds memberships with the Association Of Pet Dog Trainers, The Humane Society of The United States, The ASPCA and PETA. She volunteers at various shelters and with rescue groups training dogs in order to increase the likelihood of their being adopted and continues training to ensure the dogs have a forever home.
